Authorities in East Hants say the latest testing shows the municipal water system is safe for use again, and a boil water advisory has been listed.
On Tuesday, customers were warned of apparent contamination of the Enfield, Elmsdale and Lantz public drinking water supply, and the possibility of unsafe water. Consumers were advised to boil all water for at least 1 minute before using for human consumption.
“Everything is being done to determine the cause of the problem and to remedy it as quickly as possible,” said a release from the municipality. “The water utility, the Nova Scotia Department of Environment and the Medical Officer of Health are working in close consultation to continue monitoring water quality.”
Midday Friday, an update said “Sampling and testing of water quality have confirmed that public water from the East Hants Water Utility meets all Guidelines for Canadian Drinking Water Quality. As a result, the boil water advisory was lifted by NS Environment in consultation with the Provincial Medical Officer of Health.
Water quality continues to be monitored.”
