The case of a Nova Scotia teacher hiring a hitman to kill her allegedly abusive husband is getting a second look by RCMP’s Major Crime Unit.
RCMP say a review of it’s records shows Nicole Ryan did not call police to report the domestic abuse incidents, which she then testified in Supreme Court.
Assistant Commissioner Alphonse MacNeil says Ryan has made allegations in court which they are now looking at.
“I’ve asked our person in charge of major crime for the province to gather as much information as possible, and we will decide which direction we are going to pursue once we gather the information.”
The Supreme Court criticized the RCMP during it’s decision to stay charges against Ryan, last month.
The court said it was disquieting that police were quick to arrest Ryan for hiring an undercover officer to murder her husband, while being slow to respond to her domestic violence claims.
