News 95.7 wins 5 RTDNA awards

News 95.7 is proud to say the station picked up five awards at the Radio Television Digital News Association Atlantic Region awards ceremony Saturday night in Dartmouth.

The five wins include:

  • Byron MacGregor Award – Best Newscast

Best Newscast in a medium market: The Morning News – Halifax Transit strike, which aired on February 2, 2012.

  • Peter Gzowski Award – News Information Program

Best Talk Show: Maritime Morning with Jordi Morgan, Crisis in Care – The Maritime Morning show on the murder of gay activist Raymond Taavel.

  • Gord Sinclair Award – Live Special Events

Halifax votes 2012 – Our special election night show on Saturday October 20, 2012.

  • Dave Rogers Award – Short Feature

A three-part series by reporter Desiree Finhert that showcased 21st century technology in the classroom.

  • Sam Ross Award – Editorial / Commentary

Crisis Help line answering machine – editorial commentary by Jordi Morgan

RTDNA Canada Awards are given out yearly to the best programs, stations and newsgathering organizations in broadcast and online media. These award winners will now compete nationally at the annual RTDNA convention in Toronto this June.
