Another downtown bar has had it’s last call.
The Pogue Fado Irish Pub closed it’s doors on Monday night for the final time.
The closure of the Barrington Street bar comes just two months after it celebrated it’s 10th anniversary.
According to the bar’s Facebook page, the owners say “A long and careful evaluation of our position indicates to us, like it has to others in our industry, that moving forward given the current business environment downtown simply doesn’t make sense. Thus, we will cease operations effective immediately.”
Posts on social media from former staff showed varying reactions of sadness and disappointment.
“Pogue Fado wasn’t just a job it was a family,” said staffer Deanna Critch. “I will truly miss coming in every weekend and seeing the staff that made working here every bit worth it. We were taken aback when finding out that this bar was closing but nonetheless we had amazing times together and I will miss this place dearly. I wish nothing but the best for everyone who worked in this bar. It was a hell of a time!”
