Timberlea teen charged with attempted murder after weekend shooting

An 18-year-old man will appear in Halifax Provincial Court today on a number of charges, including three counts of attempted murder, after a shooting in Timberlea Saturday morning.

Three other teens were also charged, but they’ll appear in court on different days in July.

At around 10 a.m. Saturday morning police were called to a home in the Forest Glen Drive area of Timberlea for reports of shots being fired outside a residence.

No one was injured in the incident but police seized two handguns and arrested three teens at the scene. A fourth teen was picked up later.

One of the suspects, 18-year-old Daniel Simon Day of Timberlea, remains in custody this morning and will appear in court later today.

He faces three counts of attempted murder, three counts of assault with a weapon, two counts of discharging a firearm with intent and three counts of discharging a firearm recklessly.

The other suspects were released, but they were all charged.

A 19-year-old Halifax man will appear in Halifax Provincial Court on July 25 on charges of mischief and possession of a weapon of a dangerous purpose.

An 18-year-old Timberlea man will head to Provincial Court July 31 to face a charge of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

A 17-year-old Sackville youth will be appear in Youth Court on July 9 on charges of possession of a prohibited weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

The investigation continues and anyone with information is asked to call police.
