Neptune Theatre celebrates 50 years

Neptune Theatre celebrates its 50th anniversary today.
The theatre marked its opening back in July 1963.
Spokesperson Megan Power says everyone involved is proud to have made it through five decades, as other theatre companies of similar size have been forced to close.
“It’s a hard business to be in and we’re a non-profit, so we’ve had some really bad years and some really great years and I think we’re celebrating the struggle and the triumph of making it 50 years,” said Power.
She credits the love and support from the community for Neptune’s success.
Neptune is open to the public between noon and 2 p.m. this afternoon for a community birthday celebration that will include tours of the theatre, screenings of archival footage and birthday cake.
