About 200 friends, family and residents attended a funeral for 62-year-old Harley Lawrence on Wednesday morning in Kentville.
Lawrence died last week when the Berwick bus shelter he slept in caught on fire.
Outside of the funeral home, one resident tells News 95.7 Lawrence’s death is like a dark cloud hanging over the community.
“We felt close to him although no one could ever get close to him,” she explained. “He was always nice and friendly and I felt he was our little angel of Berwick.”
Stories were shared during the ceremony and a letter from Lawrence’s sister was read that spoke of his death being a tragic way to go.
Lawrence will be laid to rest at the River Bank Cemetary.
The fire that killed Lawrence has been deemed suspicious by police, and the investigation continues.
