It’s We Day in Halifax!
A capacity crowd of 8,000 students from across the region will be heading to the Metro Centre today for the youth empowerment event.
Free the Children founder Craig Kielburger told News News 95.7 that although the event is free, those attending still had to earn their ticket through service to others.
“They’ve done at least one local cause, one global cause helping 600 different organizations making an impact,” explained Kielburger.
We Day started in 2007 and has grown into a cross-country tour with 9 Canadian stops and it will wrap up here in Halifax.
“Atlantic Canada is the last stop on this tour and the first time we’ve ever done it here. We’re incredibly excited to make it an annual event here in Atlantic Canada,” said Kielburger.
The show starts at 10:00 a.m. and features a star-studded lineup of performers and inspirational speakers, including Shawn Desman, Hedley and Michaelle Jean.
