PICTOU, N.S. – The first-degree murder trial of a Nova Scotia man charged in the death of 19-year-old Amber Kirwan started Monday with the selection of the jury.
Seven women and six men have been selected from a pool of 200 people to hear evidence in the murder trial of Christopher Alexander Falconer.
He entered a not guilty plea early on in the proceedings.
A month has been set aside for the trial in provincial Supreme Court in Pictou, where 42 witnesses could testify.
Kirwan disappeared after leaving a pool hall in New Glasgow, N.S., during the early morning hours of Oct. 9, 2011.
Her body was discovered in a wooded area in Pictou County on Nov. 6, 2011.
