Man taken to hospital after Emergency Response Team visits apartment

The Halifax Police Emergency Response Team had a negotiator on scene at Sunrise Manor on Gottingen Street to speak with a man who would not open the door.

Police said someone called from the building around 11 a.m. Monday with concerns about a resident’s safety.

Officers stopped by to do a well-being check, but the man would let them in.

Police said there was no indication the man has any weapons or means anyone any harm, but police were concerned enough that they had extra officers there to try to get the man to open the door and talk with them.

The situation was resolved just after 1:30 p.m. The man is being taken to hospital to be checked out. Police said he was not injured.
