Little Ladybugs daycare closes after church fire

Katherine Legg, mother of Little Ladybug’s Daycare owner Tanya Dalton, said her daughter is devastated after a fire at St. Andrew’s United Church earlier in the week forced her to close up shop for six to eight months.

In the meantime, though, the children of Little Ladybugs will be set up at a makeshift care centre down the road, at the University of King’s College until the daycare is restored and repaired.

Legg said her daughter is just doing what she has to do.

“It might be bare bones to start, but at least the children will be there and they’ll be taken care of,” she said.

Legg said just about everything was destroyed in the fire Sunday, including books, toys and food, and the rooms are were extremely damaged from the smoke and fire.

“She lost all her books, she has a lot of teaching toys (she lost), and things like that,” Legg said. “Just anything. She will take anything.”
