RCMP have named the victim of a fatal crash Monday morning on Highway 103 near Bridgewater.
She was 40-year-old Janet Joanne MacNeil of Mahone Bay.
The crash happened just before 10 a.m. between exits 11 and 12, when a westbound tractor-trailer collided with MacNeil’s eastbound car.
RCMP continue to re-route traffic at the scene, and the road is expected to remain closed overnight Monday.
Nova Scotia RCMP Sgt. Alain LeBlanc told News 95.7, the crash happened at around 9:50 a.m.
“Our preliminary investigation determined that the tractor-trailer was headed towards Bridgewater and then the car was headed towards Halifax when the collision occurred,” said LeBlanc.
LeBlanc said MacNeil was driving the car, and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Mounties expect Highway 103 to be closed for a while for the investigation, traffic is being rerouted at exit 11 (Blockhouse) and exit 12 (Bridgewater).
