Dalhousie University says the 13 dentistry students who took part in a controversial Facebook group will not attend classes with their fellow students, but the restorative justice process will continue.
The school has also launched an external investigation into what it calls the ‘environment’ in the Faculty of Dentistry.
That inquiry will be led by University of Ottawa law professor Constance Backhouse.
Dalhousie’s statement says Backhouse is “internationally recognized for her work on sex discrimination and the legal history of gender and race in Canada.”
The school says the details of that investigation will be made public.
On top of that, Dalhousie’s Dean of Law, Kim Brooks, will lead a “strategic initiative on diversity and inclusiveness.”
