Guilty plea in publication ban breach in Lyle Howe case

HALIFAX – A Dartmouth man has pleaded guilty to violating a publication ban in a high-profile sexual assault case.

David Winslow Sparks was charged in September after police alleged he posted the name of a sexual assault victim on Facebook.

In July 2014, defence lawyer Lyle Howe was sentenced to three years in prison after being found guilty by a jury of sexually assaulting a 19-year-old woman in March 2011.

An appeal of Howe’s case will be heard in March.

As for Sparks, he will be sentenced on March 17.
