Macdonald Bridge closed for part of the weekend

Drivers needing to cross the harbour Saturday night or Sunday will have to take the MacKay Bridge.
The Macdonald Bridge will be closed for part of the weekend to replace a couple of bearings on one of the bridge piers.
The bridge will shut down Saturday night at 7 p.m., then won’t reopen again until 5:30 a.m. Monday.
The bike lane and sidewalk will stay open.
According to Halifax Transit, they have to detour the following routes from Sunday between 5:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.:
Routes 1 Spring Garden, 10 Westphal and 61 North Preston heading to Dartmouth
-Buses will detour straight on Gottingen, left on Young, right on Robie, to Massachusetts, across the MacKay Bridge, right on Victoria, right on Thistle, and service the Bridge Terminal. The stop at North and Gottingen will be the last pickup for these routes.
Routes 1 Spring Garden, 10 Westphal and 61 North Preston heading to Halifax
-Buses will detour from Wyse, to Boland, to Victoria, to Highway 111, to the MacKay Bridge, to Barrington and normal routing.
Route 52 Crosstown to Dartmouth
-Buses will travel from North, to Gottingen, to Young, to Robie, to Massachusetts, to the MacKay Bridge, to Victoria, to Thistle, to Bridge Terminal. The stop at Creighton and North will be the last pickup for this route during the detour.
Route 52 Crosstown to Chain Lake Drive
-Buses will travel from Wyse, to Boland, to Victoria, to ramp at Highway 111, to MacKay Bridge, to North and regular routing.
After 7 p.m. on Saturday and before 5:30 a.m. on Sunday, and after 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, the shuttles normally required for the Big Lift project will be in place.
