Inverness County councillor calling for plan for dead whales

INVERNESS, N.S. – A Nova Scotia councillor is calling on all levels of government to come up with a removal plan for dead whales.

Inverness County councillor Dwayne MacDonald says residents of Long Point began contacting him recently about a dead whale that was giving off a powerful odour.

MacDonald says residents weren’t receiving any help from provincial or federal officials in getting it removed from the beach just below a popular look off.

He says the smell became so unbearable, a resident paid to have it towed away.

MacDonald says it’s a common occurrence and governments should come up with a plan so that residents don’t have to take matters into their own hands.
