A Dalhousie University medical student charged with first-degree murder is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
William Sandeson, 22, is charged in the death of third-year physics student Taylor Samson, who was last seen leaving his fraternity house on South Street around 10:30 p.m. on Aug. 15.
He was reported missing the following evening.
Dates for a preliminary inquiry are expected to be set during Sandeson’s appearance on Thursday.
Search warrant documents show police believe Samson was selling four pounds of marijuana to a new client the night he went missing.
Samson’s body has not been found, and none of the allegations have been proven in court.
Earlier this month, Halifax Regional Police spent seven days searching a property in Truro that belongs to Sandeson’s immediate family searching for evidence in the case, as well as another property near the Truro Mall.
During the search police had said they found several items of interest, but would not elaborate what those items were because of the ongoing investigation.
Sandeson’s defence attorney Eugene Tan accused police of mishandling the alleged murder scene earlier this month, when he found out his client’s Henry Street apartment had been renovated.
Police maintain the scene was handled properly and according to protocol.
Tan said last week that Sandeson will be seeking bail in Nova Scotia Supreme Court, with two days scheduled for a hearing in October.
Police are asking anyone who may have any information about this homicide is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
