Man charged with perjury after testimony at murder trial

HALIFAX – Police say a 22-year old Halifax man has been charged with perjury following testimony earlier this month as a part of a local murder trial.
Marcus Terrence Verrault appeared at Nova Scotia Supreme Court under subpoena Feburary 4 to testify as a witness in the trial of Kale Leonard Gabriel for the 2010 murder of Ryan White.
Verrault refused to take the stand when called as a witness during the trial, but later changed his mind and testified.
Investigators later noted he wasn’t truthful about his knowledge of the murder during testimony.
As a result, police arrested Verrault Shortly after 8 a.m. Tuesday, at a residence on Brunswick Street and charged him with perjury.
He was scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court on Tuesday.
