Halifax Regional Police are investigating a suspicious death in Dartmouth after a grisly discovery.
Officers were called to the area after getting a report of shots fired around 5:20 a.m., and say when they arrived, they found the body of a man who had been shot lying on a sidewalk at the intersection of Mount Edward Road near Spring Avenue.
They add the identity of the victim is still not known, but he is described as ‘young’.
That intersection and some surrounding streets are shut down to traffic at this time.
A homicide unit and forensic officers are processing the scene.
NEWS 95.7 reporter Andrew Pinsent said a blue tarp covers the body on the sidewalk, and at least a dozen police officers are combing the area.
“A daycare on the corner of Mount Edward and Spring Avenue says they will stay open today,” said Pinsent.
