Video Difference closing its Halifax doors after 34 years

HALIFAX – Halifax video rental business Video Difference is closing its doors after 34 years.

The business announced in a post on Facebook Tuesday morning that it’s locations on the Bedford Highway and Quinpool Road will close but will continue renting to customers until August 15.

Manager Paul Beaujolais blamed changing consumer habits and lower sales that led to the decision.

Beaujolais thanked the public for their support over the years as he said they were able to fill a massive niche for film buffs in the city and surrounding area.

“The two things we hang our hat on since we opened is service and selection,” he said.

“Everything from oddball horror films all the way up to very hard to find Italian language movies.”

The 80,000 pieces of inventory will be part of a liquidation sale for the public, that will begin August 20 and run for seven weeks.
