District 15 Councillor Steve Craig elected Deputy Mayor

HALIFAX – District 15 Councillor Steve Craig is the new Deputy Mayor of HRM.

He was elected today by his fellow councillors to serve as Deputy Mayor for the new term.

Craig has been a member of regional council representing Lower Sackville since October, 2012. He’s a long-time resident of the area, who entered municipal politics after a 30-year career in the telecommunications industry.

During his time on council, Craig has been active in issues around pedestrian safety, accessibility, and solid waste m,management.

The new Deputy Mayor takes over from former Deputy Mayor, Matt Whitman, who held the position for the past 12 months.
