HALIFAX – Peter Baylis has spent the last six seasons as the anthem singer for the Halifax Mooseheads, and now he’s taking his talents to the streets.
Baylis has set a goal for himself in honour of Canada’s 150th anniversary – he will be singing ‘O Canada’ 150 times before July 1.
“It was just a quick idea,” said Baylis. “I’m lying there going ‘I want to contribute to the celebrations, how can I do that?’ Well I’m already singing the anthem, what if I try to sing 150 anthems at certain things?”
Baylis admits the idea is ambitious, but he has already begun his efforts.
He has performed the anthem on the radio, television and at numerous public spaces already.
“If you do the math,” said Baylis, “12 times 12 is 144. So the average is 12 point something per month.”
Baylis is making this count making it a fundraiser for Feed Nova Scotia.
