Body of young man recovered from Penhorn Lake

Halifax Regional Police say divers have recovered the body of a man in Penhorn Lake just before 9 a.m. Wednesday.

They say the drowning victim is a 20-year-old man, they will not be releasing his identity.

Police, EHS and fire crews were called to Penhorn Beach around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday after a man swimming went under the water and didn’t return to the surface.

Halifax Fire deployed two boats to look for the man but has to suspend their efforts when darkness set in just before 10 p.m., they resumed their search early this morning.
