Fix-It Fair Saturday at the Halifax Forum

If you're using your closet, basement or garage to store broken items you haven't yet gotten around to repairing, this is the weekend to dig them out.

The second annual Fix-It Fair goes Saturday at the Halifax Forum.

Anna Weinstein from the Clean Foundation told NEWS 95.7 it started as a waste reduction initiative last year at the Halifax Central Library, and this year they're moving to a bigger venue.

“We'll have camera repair, vacuum repair, stove, small appliances, textiles, furniture, knives, amplifiers, and we'll also have a repair cafe,” she explained. “So any of the things that don't fit into any of those categories, we're going to have a team of handy folks who will give it their best shot.”

Weinstein said there will also be a lot of workshops including on how to sharpen knives, recycling and composting, basic electricity and a kid's presentation on how to make a self-watering planter from a plastic bottle.

The Fix-it Fair runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and it's a free event.
