Halloween forecast ‘a real treat compared to today’ says meteorologist

By Meghan Groff

Remember that year you made a really cool Halloween costume out of cardboard and it got ruined in the rain, or that time you had to cover it up with a parka because it snowed?

The Weather Network says that shouldn't be a problem this year.

Meteorologist Doug Gillham said compared to Monday's rain and wind storm, the weather on Halloween should be 'a treat.'

“We're still going to have a brisk wind tomorrow, but not nearly as windy as today, and the rain will be out of the picture,” he told NEWS 95.7's The Sheldon MacLeod Show.

Gillham said Halifax can expect a mix of sun and cloud with above seasonal temperatures.

He said it won't be as good as those 20 degree days we've been spoiled with this month, but it certainly could be worse.

“The Prairies are in the midst of a pattern transition, so we're watching the front for snow for parts of Alberta and spreading into Saskatchewan,” he explained. “That's the beginning of an extended period of wintry weather for the Prairies.”

But here in Halifax, we'll have some of the warmest weather in the country tomorrow, Gillham expects temperatures to be around 10 degrees at trick-or-treating time.
