Special weather statement in effect for:
- Halifax Metro and Halifax County West
Snow, ice pellets and possibly freezing rain are expected to impact Nova Scotia Monday night and into Tuesday.
A low pressure system is forecast to develop off the east coast of the United States on Monday and slowly move northeastward, tracking south of Nova Scotia on Tuesday. This system brings with it the potential for significant snow likely exceeding snowfall warnings of 15 cm for some areas and strong winds overnight Monday and into Tuesday. There is also a possibility that snow could change over to freezing rain or rain in eastern Nova Scotia.
There remains uncertainty in the forecast track of this system. Slight changes could significantly alter the precipitation type and amounts.
Environment and Climate Change Canada meteorologists will continue to monitor the situation and issue warnings if required as more details become available.
