SiRT investigating death of 24 year old male in Westphal

A 24 year old man is dead after Halifax District RCMP responded to an incident in Westphal Saturday morning.
The RCMP say that they were responding to a weapons complaint at a home where a man threatened to shoot another man.
When members responded, the man fled and entered a wooded area, where he was shot after being confronted by police.
The man died at the scene, and no RCMP officers were injured.
The Serious Incident Response Team (SiRT) is investigating the shooting of a male in Westphal by RCMP officers.
SIRT is responsible for investigating all serious incidents involving police in Nova Scotia, whether or not there is an allegation of wrongdoing.
