By Danielle McCreadie

A 21-year-old woman is facing charges after crashing her vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.

At 4:40 AM Sunday morning, Halifax Regional Police received a report of a car striking a tree and then a fire hydrant in the 6100 block of North Street.

Later another caller reported a possible impaired driver operating a Gray Honda Civic traveling north bound on Windsor Street.

Shortly after at 4:50 a.m. police located the suspected vehicle in the parking lot of McDonalds on Kempt Road, where the driver was arrested. Her blood alcohol level was over 80 mg.

She will appear in court on a later date facing charges of impaired operation of a motor vehicle, obstruction, and failing to remain at the scene of an accident.
