Bay Ferries begins work in Bar Harbor with no deal signed yet

As the debate over the Yarmouth to Maine ferry continues in Nova Scotia, work has begun in Bar Harbor on improvements to the ferry landing area.

In an email to Global News, CEO of Bay Ferries Mark MacDonald says demolition work has begun on the outbuildings of the terminal in Maine that would house the ferry.

Bay Ferries has a five year deal with the town of Bar Harbor to land the ferry in their harbour, but according to Global, a deal to buy the building for the town has not closed and the company is still working on a deal with the US Government over providing additional custom officers at the facility and who will pay their salaries.
