HALIFAX – A man is dead following a two vehicle collision on Old Sambro Road Wednesday night.
Shortly after 8 p.m., police responded to a report of a two vehicle collision where a 45-year-old man driving a sedan inbound toward Sussex Street collided with an SUV travelling outbound.
Emergency crews responded within minutes and attempted life saving measures on the 45-year-old driver, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 64-year-old driver of the SUV was treated by EHS and released at the scene.
There were no passengers in either vehicle.
HRP staff sergeant Greg Robertson told NEWS 95.7 the collision remains under investigation.
“The investigation is still ongoing and will be for at least a few days,” he said. “At this time, there are no charges laid.”
Robertson says road conditions were poor at the time of the collision.
Old Sambro Road was closed for hours in both directions between the intersection of Sussex Street and Rockingstone Road and the Irving Gas, but has since reopened.
