On the 15th anniversary of the death of Kevin James Petrie, Halifax Regional Police are hoping someone will come forward with information to help them advance their investigation.
Police were called to 7132 Spruce Street in Halifax at around 1 p.m. on March 28, 2004 where responding officers found Petrie in medical distress.
He was rushed to hospital where he died of his injuries.
Investigators say Petrie had been assaulted during a home invasion at 269 Pleasant Street in Dartmouth on March 17, 2004.
They believe those injuries contributed to his death and that there are people who have information about Kevin's murder.
“We ask them to do the right thing and come forward with what they know,” said police in a news release.
“It's never too late and no piece of information is too small; it could be just what is needed to advance the investigation and find justice for Kevin and his loved ones.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 902-490-5016 or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers.
The case is also a part of Nova Scotia's Rewards for Major Unsolved Crimes Program which offers a reward of up to $150,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible.
All calls to the program will be recorded. Those with information will need to provide their name, contact information and may be called to testify in court.
