Mooseheads take to the ice Friday against Wildcats in second round

By Chris Halef

The Halifax Mooseheads are continuing their playoff run Friday night as they take on the Moncton Wildcats in the second round.

Both teams are coming off series' that went all the way to the limit, with both teams moving on after seven games.

The Mooseheads are fresh off their game seven win against the Quebec Remparts, while the Wildcats are coming off their upset victory over the Baie Comeau Drakkar.

Moosehead's play-by-play man Garreth MacDonald telling NEWS 95.7 these two teams have history of bad blood.

“Definitely going to be a tight series, it's going to be a hard fought one, let's face it, these are two teams that don't like each other,” says MacDonald. “They see each other a whole lot during the regular season, there is a big rivalry there.”

He describes the Wildcats as the biggest rivals for the Mooseheads in the Q League, saying this second round series is “going to be a war.”

He says the big question mark heading into the series is Benoit Olivier Groulx, who sat out the entire first round series with mono.

MacDonald says it's still not known whether or not he will be able to take part against the Wildcats.

He tells NEWS 95.7 he believes the fact that the Mooseheads came back to win their series against the Remparts will benefit them heading into this tough second round match up.

“Now that's the kind of adversity that helps build character, and you know, I think if nothing else, the Mooseheads with this long opening round series, they're learning how to win in the playoffs, and I think that could probably benefit them moving forward,” says MacDonald.

The puck drops at 7 o'clock and you can catch all the action on NEWS 95.7.
