No goslings this year at Sullivan’s Pond

By Matthew Moore

Locals in Dartmouth hoping for new goslings near Sullivan's Pond will be sad to hear the mother goose has abandoned her nest.

The area councillor says residents were hopeful to see if the pond would be welcoming new additions this year, and excitement was high after a mother goose laid eggs just over a month ago.

However, Councillor Sam Austin says the goose abandoned the nest on Monday, and the eggs disappeared a short time later.

Austin tells NEWS 957 he's not exactly sure why this happened.

“She sat on the nest for 30 days all told, but at the end of it, for whatever reason, she abandoned the nest on Monday and the eggs slowly disappeared from there,” said Austin.

Austin says he was hoping to see goslings, as four new geese were brought into the area this year to breed.
