Want to be in a flash mob on Canada Day?

By Meghan Groff

If you've always wanted to be in a flash mob, this is your chance.

FUSE Festival is inviting everyone to participate in one on Canada Day.

The family-friendly event is designed to bring Nova Scotians from all cultural backgrounds together through a shared dance experience.

With that in mind, the festival's director says many dance styles will be included in the routine set to DNCE's Cake By The Ocean.

“We've got elements of belly dance, elements of Bollywood, elements of Caribbean dance and a little bit of hip-hop, just super simple steps,” says Maria Osende. “We wanted to make it inclusive so it's not just one dance style.”

She tells NEWS 95.7's The Sheldon MacLeod Show there will be people on stage and in the crowd who know the routine when the flash mob breaks out at 2 p.m. at the Emera Oval on July 1.

“We expect thousands and thousands of people, because it's the Commons on Canada Day, to sort of be able to follow the ones who know it.”

If you want to be one of those people, you can atttend one of four upcoming free sessions to learn the dance:
