Halifax Regional Police say it was a bomb threat that caused patients and staff to be evacuated from a hospital in Dartmouth that provides treatment to people with mental illnesses.
Police were called to the Mount Hope building on Pleasant Street in Woodside after 3:30 p.m. Tuesday after the threat was phoned in by an anonymous caller.
Everyone was cleared out of the building as a precaution and Pleasant St. was temporarily shut down to traffic while officers and a K9 unit conducted a search.
Nothing threatening was found and Carla Adams, the manager of public affairs at the Nova Scotia Health Authority, says they were given the all clear at around 5:45 p.m.
She says during the evacuation, the hospital's staff ensured around 60 patients were “comfortable and cared for.”
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact police at 902-490-5020 or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers.
