PCs swap out Northside-Westmount by-election candidate

By Victoria Walton

This afternoon, the provincial Progressive Conservative party announced that Danny Laffin would no longer be their candidate in Northside-Westmount, in North Sydney, Cape Breton.

PC Leader Tim Houston says Laffin was removed for failure to comply with the diclosure process.

The party announced that Murray Ryan, a Charterered Professional Accountant with 25 years experience, will fill the role.

“The PC Party sets a high standard for those who can run under our banner,” Houston said. “I look forward to working to elect Murray Ryan as the next MLA for Northside-Westmount.”

Laffin took to Facebook to announce that he is now running as an Independent in the riding.

The by-election is set to be held on September 3.
