Two hikers safely located after being reported as missing in Long Lake Trails

Two female hikers that were reported missing early Saturday morning have been located after a search from Halifax Police and Halifax Fire and Emergency.

Halifax Police say at 12:10 a.m., officers received a call that a 53 and 58 year old hiker had not returned from Long Lake Trails.

Halifax Fire crews used a night vision drone to help in the search, and the two hikers were spotted at 2:55 a.m. near the St. Margaret's Bay Road and Albert Walker Road.

A police service dog and officers with night vision tools located the hikers at 4:00 a.m. Saturday morning with no injuries reported.
