If you want to visit the best island in the Americas, you don't have to go far.
Cape Breton Island has topped the list according to Condé Nast Traveler.
“Just east of Prince Edward Island is Cape Breton, a rocky, rugged island begging to be hiked,” describes the travel publication. “On the northern tip, you'll find the Cabot Trail, a 185-mile loop considered one of the most scenic drives in Canada.”
As a pro tip, they recommend heading to Cape Breton this time of year to check out the peak fall colours.
CEO of Destination Cape Breton, Terry Smith, says their organization is thrilled.
“This accolade is a tribute to everyone in the Island's tourism industry and our residents who welcome visitors and ensure that they have an unforgettable experience,” he says in a news release. “This recognition will undoubtedly bring even more awareness and interest to our destination.”
Mexico's Isla Holbox is runner up, with Vancouver Island, the Galapagos Islands and Columbia's San Andre's & Providencia rounding out the list.
