As the 25th anniversary of the murder of Kimber Leanne Lucas approaches, Halifax Regional Police are hoping someone with information will come forward to help them advance the case.
Police were called to 5783 North Street — between Robie and Agricola — at around 8:40 a.m. on Nov. 23, 1994, where officers found the body of Kimber Leanne Lucas near the back of the building.
Her death was ruled a homicide and according to the province's crime rewards program, she was pregnant at the time of her death.
Investigators believe Kimber had been in the area of North and Maitland streets between 1:30 a.m. and 3:30 a.m. that day.
“It is never too late to come forward and the smallest piece of information may be just what is needed to progress the investigation,” police said in a news release.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 902-490-5016 or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers.
The case is part of the Nova Scotia's Rewards for Major Unsolved Crimes Program which offers up to $150,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible
All calls to 1-888-710-9090 are recorded. Those who come forward have to provide their name and contact information, and may be called to testify in court.
