Vape Shop manager says flavour ban will push people to the black market

By Matthew Moore

The manager of a vape shop in the HRM is disappointed with a lack of industry consultation on the province's move to ban flavoured vaping products.

Ryan Leveille, manager of the Foggy Coil vape shop in Dartmouth, says the industry was born from the black market, and it's likely people will go back to it following this ban.

Leveille tells NEWS 95.7 government has taken too big a step in banning flavours, and it's likely going to force users to buy from other sources.

“We don't want unregulated products, we want something that's safe for our customers, and our customers want a safe product,” said Leveille. “I think by jumping right to this, it's just going to push people to the black market.”

Leveille says the industry has been well regulated on its own up to this point, and smaller steps from the government, including changes to regulations might have been a better course of action.
