Fatal crash shuts down Bayers Road at Connaught (update)

By Meghan Groff

Halifax Regional Police say it's too early to know the cause of a crash in Halifax Tuesday night that killed a 40-year-old man, but they do believe speed was a factor.

Halifax Regional Police were called to the corner of Bayers Road and Connaught Avenue at around 5:45 p.m. Tuesday.

The intersection is shut down in both directions and as of 6:15 p.m., police expect it to be closed for an extended period of time.

Police say the three-vehicle crash caused multiple injuries and the driver of one of the vehicles was pronounced dead at the hospital just before 7 p.m.

The Halifax man's identity is being withheld pending notification of the next of kin.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police at 902-490-5020 or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers.
