Willow Tree Tower to be torn down, turned into adult active living community

By Dave Heintzman

A property at the corner of Robie Street, and Quinpool Road is going to become an adult active living community.

Global News is reporting Armco Capital is selling the Willow Tree Tower to the Shannex Group but Armco refused to disclose the price.

In October, regional council voted to accept $1.8 million from Armco instead of having them build 20 affordable housing units in the proposed 25-storey complex. The money will be placed in an affordable housing fund.

Shannex president and chief operating officer Jason Shannon says getting a second location downtown is important to them, and this new spot checks all the boxes on their list. Demolition is set to begin in March or April of this year, with the new property expected to open in 2024.
