Kejimkujik Seaside closed due to increased black bear activity

A popular south shore hiking spot is closed until further notice.

Parks Canada says the temporary shut down of Kejimkujik National Park Seaside is due to increased black bear activity in the St. Catherine's area.

“The safety of visitors and staff, and risk factors are carefully considered when making decisions to temporarily close a national park,” said a news release from the agency. “To protect visitors and wildlife, the closure is put in place by order of the Superintendent.”

The closure only affects Keji Seaside along the south shore.

The inland Kejimkujik National Park and National Historic Site currently has limited visitor access and basic services.
