NSHA expands hours for booking blood collection appointments in Central Zone

By CityNews Halifax Staff

Starting Thursday, July 16, the Nova Scotia Health Authority is expanding hours to book blood collection appointments in the Central Zone which includes the Halifax region, Eastern Shore, and West Hants.

The health authority says the move aims to address a continued high volume of calls which is making it difficult for people to get through to the line used for booking appointments.

Those requiring to book an appointment can now do so between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m. Monday to Friday, and 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.

“Due to the increased demand and backlog in the system, we acknowledge that a patient may have to call multiple times to successfully book an appointment,” the NSHA says in a release. “We thank you for your cooperation and patience while we continue to implement changes to address the issues and make improvements.”

Walk-in same-day clinic blood collection service is no longer offered, due to the requirement to ensure physical distancing.
