Mooseheads and Scotiabank Centre release details about tickets and COVID protocols

Now that a comprehensive plan for attending Mooseheads' games has been approved by health officials and the province, fans are finding out what watching a hockey game will be like this season.

After months of cancelled events due to COVID-19, the Scotiabank Centre will re-open its doors on October 3 for the Halifax Mooseheads' home opener against Cape Breton.

The facility says the following enhanced protocols will be in place for the 2020/21 season:

• The facility will be divided into separate zones to maintain bubbles up to a maximum of 200 people with washrooms, concessions, and entrance/exit points.
• Tickets will be sold in groups of up to 10 within the same bubble, respecting public health gathering guidelines. 
• Attendees will be required to wear non-medical masks at all times, except when consuming food and beverage.
• Tickets will be mobile-only to minimize requirement for close contact.  
• New cleaning and hygiene protocols have been put in place to ensure thorough and regular disinfecting of frequently touched locations and surfaces, including deep cleaning and sanitization prior to and post event. 
• Contactless hand sanitizing stations will be located throughout the venue and at entry points with signage to reinforce the importance of hygiene etiquette.  

“We're thrilled to be reopening and welcoming our fans back to Scotiabank Centre,” says president and CEO Carrie Cussons. 

“We've been working in close collaboration with the Halifax Mooseheads to develop a comprehensive plan that allows us to safely host their season and give fans the opportunity to cheer loud and proud for their home team.”

The team will be offering two separate bundles of 15 pre-selected games. They will be available to season ticket holders on Tuesday, Sept. 15 at 10 a.m., then to 15-game pack holders on Thursday, Sept. 17 at 10 a.m.

“Fans who wish to purchase both bundles will be permitted to do so with their promo code in one transaction,” says a news release from the team. “The promo code will be emailed to ticket holders later this week.”

Season ticket holders and 15-game pack holders will then get first dibs on any remaining seats for individual games before tickets are made available to the general public.

“Due to our very limited capacity and rising expenses related to COVID protocols, our prices have changed this season and we will only be offering two different price options,” the news release says.

Mooseheads majority owner Bobby Smithy says his team is thrilled to be returning for another exciting season of QMJHL hockey.

“We've altered our schedule. We've changed our seating plan. We've worked hand-in-hand with our partners at Scotiabank Centre to provide a safe, responsible environment for players, fans, arena staff and members of our organization,” he says.
