The burgers are back.
After a COVID-19 forced isolation this past June, the 2020 version of Halifax Burger Week will soon return.
Cheeseburger connoisseurs will now be able to take a bit out of this popular event from October 22nd through the 31st.
The event is also a fundraiser for Feed Nova Scotia, who received $150,000 from the event just last year, and over $400,000 over the past 7 years.
Nick Jennery is the executive director of Feed Nova Scotia, and he admits he let out an exclamation of celebration when he heard the eating event was making a comeback.
As Jennery tells NEWS 95.7's The Sheldon MacLeod Show, he wasn’t just happy for his organization, but he was also happy for local restaurants.
“I think the public is looking for an opportunity to get a taste for something that used to be, but also to support those restaurants who have been with us, and for us, year in and year out,” he says.
If you’d like to help Feed Nova Scotia prior to Halifax Burger Week, you can donate or volunteer.
But if you’re not able to do either, Jennery says, with so many elections happening right now, one great way to help is to ask candidates about their plans to deal with food insecurity.
