Police chief to give update on case of Saskatchewan man allegedly killed by Mountie
PRINCE ALBERT, Sask. — The police chief of Prince Albert, Sask., is expected to provide an update this afternoon on the case of a Mountie accused of killing a 26-year-old man.
Cpl. Bernie Herman, who is 53, was charged with first-degree murder after police found a man’s body in a wooded area in Prince Albert on Tuesday.
Police said the dead man, Braden Herman, knew the officer but was not related to him.

Bernie Herman, who was serving with the Prince Albert Traffic Services Unit, made his first court appearance Thursday.
The Prince Albert police’s criminal investigations division is leading the case, but they have requested the appointment of an independent observer to oversee it.
Chief Jonathan Bergen is scheduled to speak to media today at 4 p.m. local time.
