Man charged with impaired driving and several weapons and drug offences

A man is facing several charges after Halifax Regional Police investigated a report of a man passed out in a running vehicle.

Police were called to Princess Margaret Boulevard in Dartmouth at around 4:45 a.m. Saturday.

Arriving officers suspected the man was impaired and arrested him. They say they also spotted a gun in the vehicle, which they seized, along with cocaine and cannabis.

Dion Edward Thomas-Hodges, 24, was scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court Monday to face charges of:

  • Operating a conveyance while impaired
  • Operating a conveyance with blood alcohol above 80mg%
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Improper storage of a firearm
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possession of a firearm knowing it is unauthorized
  • Possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition
  • Possession of a firearm in a vehicle
  • Possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of cannabis for the purpose of distribution
  • Possession of cannabis for the purpose selling
  • Produce cannabis for the purpose of distribution or selling
