By Chris Stoodley

Halifax Regional Police is investigating two incidents of a suspect breaking into the Dartmouth Crossing Canadian Tire over the Christmas weekend.

According to video footage, the first incident occurred on Dec. 24 just after 8:30 p.m. where a man is seen smashing the door to the store.

“It appears the suspect may have been frightened by an audible alarm and quickly left the store,” HRP says in a news release.

Police describe the man as heavier set. In the video footage, he was wearing grey sweatpants, a black hoodie and a black ski mask.

The second incident occurred on Dec. 25 just after 8:30 p.m. Video footage shows it's the same man but he was wearing blue jeans, a black jacket and the same black ski mask.

In the second break and enter, the man took a number of firearms and ammunition.

Police responded to the store at 8:55 a.m. on Dec. 27 after receiving a report from the retailer.
