Provincial parks to close ahead of Fiona’s visit

By Meghan Groff

Provincial parks will be closing ahead of Fiona's visit.

All provincial campgrounds, beaches and day-use parks, along with the Shubenacadie Wildlife Park, will shut down at noon on Friday, as will all provincial hiking and ATV trails.

If you had a camping reservation, you'll be hearing from the park reservation agency to arrange a full refund.

Once Fiona blows through, staff will need to evaluate the parks for damage and take care of any safety concerns before they are able to reopen.

The province says to watch the provincial parks website and social media for updates.

Both Kejimkujik National Park and National Historic Site and Kejimkujik Seaside will also be closing their gates at noon on Friday.

“Visitors and campers inside the park will be asked to leave and new visitors will not be permitted to enter,” said a post on Keji's Facebook page.

Those who reserved a campsite will get a full refund.
